FAIR OAKS, Calif. – Maria McDougall quickly dispatched fellow junior Zhiming Qi in nearly the minimum number of games possible at No. 1 singles while the tandem of Ava Ensberg and Stella Lucchetti led two 6-4, 6-3 doubles wins for St. Francis, which beat Folsom by a 6-3 final in a Sierra Foothill League girls' tennis dual match at Rollingwood YMCA Tuesday.

The Troubadours improve to 5-4 for the season, and even their league record to 4-4.

McDougall came just one second-set game away from a "double bagel" victory over Qi in the match's top singles match. Sophia Troppmann (6-2, 6-3) and Lena Mundhenk (6-3, 6-0) also won their No. 4 and No. 6 singles matches in straight sets. Junior Ava Dezham prevailed in a wild No. 5 singles match with Nina Chinya. She lost the first set by a convincing 6-1 score but then battled back to claim a 6-3 second set before taking a 10-6 win in the single-game deciding third set.

Besides Ensberg/Lucchetti at No. 1 doubles, the No. 2 doubles team of Nura Fananapazir and Emi Martin defeated Folsom's Manasvi Bhor/Jessie Cheng duo in the last match standing under the Rollingwood twilight.

St. Francis returns to action on Thursday to face the defending SFL and Sac-Joaquin Section champions, Granite Bay. Match time is 4 p.m. at Johnson Ranch Racquet Club.
