FAIR OAKS, Calif. – Junior Maria McDougall posted a double-bagel victory atop the singles competition as one of six straight-set wins as St. Francis defeated Rocklin, 7-2, in a Sierra Foothill League girls' tennis dual match at Rollingwood YMCA Thursday.

The Troubadours improve to 2-0 for the year and open SFL play at 1-0.

Sandra Wallace (6-0, 6-2) and Sarah Ramos-Lasso (7-5, 6-2) swept their Thunder opponents at No. 2 and 3 singles, respectively, while Lena Mundhenk made quick work of Katie Kochis at No. 6 singles. Meanwhile, Sophia Troppmann and Ava Dezham had long marathon matches on their No. 4 and No. 5 singles courts. Troppmann came on top with a 10-4 win in a one-game tiebreaker, while Dezham traded 6-4 frames before falling by that same 10-4 margin in her single-game third set.

St. Francis also picked up matching 6-1, 6-1 victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Ava Ensberg and Stella Lucchetti prevailed as the No. 1 tandem, with Nura Fananapazir and Ananya Saini doing the same on the neighboring court. Lucchetti, a sophomore and first-year varsity player, earned the team's "dog chain" award for her efforts.

The Troubies return to action on Tuesday for a road SFL match at Folsom. Also, the September 11 dual at Granite Bay is expected to move to SF's home turf of Rollingwood, although that decision is not yet finalized. Parents and fans should stay tuned to GoTroubies.com for the most current schedule.
