FAIR OAKS, Calif. – Freshman Peyton Smith picked up the lone Troubadour victory at No. 6 singles as St. Francis fell to defending Sierra Foothill League-champion Granite Bay in a girls' tennis dual match at Rollingwood YMCA Thursday.

The Troubadours take their first loss of the year, moving to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in SFL play. The match was originally scheduled as a road dual at Granite Bay's home venue of Johnson Ranch Racquet Club, but the two programs traded home-and-home matches.

Smith battled with the Grizzlies' Evelyn Peers to almost the closest possible match, winning 7-6 with a 7-2 tie breaker in the first set followed by a 6-4 in the second set. The Troubies' No. 2 doubles tandem of Nura Fananapazir and Ananya Saini managed to go to a tiebreaker in their first set, but instead had the scales tip toward their GB opponents.

The Troubies continue a three-match homestand against Whitney on Tuesday. First serve is 4 p.m. at Rollingwood.
