FAIR OAKS, Calif. – Sophomore Sandra Wallace posted a double-bagel win at No. 2 singles while senior Sophia Troppmann captured her team's "Dog Chain" award after a marathon victory against a former teammate and doubles partner, as St. Francis defeated Whitney, 6-3, in a Sierra Foothill League girls' tennis dual match at Rollingwood YMCA Tuesday.

The Troubadours improve to 4-1 for the season, 3-1 in SFL play.

St. Francis won three singles matches in straight sets. Besides Wallace's 6-0, 6-0 against Shruti Rajesh, junior Maria McDougall swept Lexa Nguyen at No. 1 singles by scores of 6-1, 6-1; while Lena Mundhenk won, 6-3, 6-2, over Sarah Choi at No. 5.

However, Troppmann enjoyed the wildest ride in picking up a win at No. 3 singles against former SF player Arini Tandon, with whom she partnered on multiple occasions as a freshman. Troppmann battled back from a 6-3 loss in the opening set to pick off a 6-2 triumph in the second. The two seniors then engaged in a long one-game tiebreaker, with Troppmann finally coming out on top, 16-14.

The Troubies also won two of their three doubles matches, both ending with a 10-5 tiebreaker in the one-game third set. Ava Ensberg and Stella Lucchetti overcame a 3-6 loss in the first set to claim a 6-2 win in the second to force the extra frame at No. 1 singles. Emi Martin and Gabrielle Mahlmann had the opposite match en route to their win: claiming a 7-5 battle to open, falling by a 6-1 final in the second, then posting the 10-5 tiebreaker.

St. Francis concludes its three-match homestand on Thursday against Del Oro. Match time is 4 p.m.
