ROCKLIN, Calif. – Seniors Chloe Garcia and Lucy Phillips posted straight-set victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, but St. Francis lost all other matches in falling by a 7-2 final against Rocklin in the second round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I team playoffs Wednesday.

The Troubadours finish their team schedule at 10-10, although Garcia and Aniyus Pierre will continue their final seasons as doubles partners in the CIF-SJS individual championships at Johnson Ranch on Thursday. 

Garcia swept junior Sophia Burns by scores of 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles, while Phillips dispatched junior Maya Camber, 6-2, 6-3, one court over. St. Francis, the No. 6 seed in the section D-I bracket, also went extended sets at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles against its third-seeded hosts. Pierre won an 8-6 tiebreaker in the opening set, but fell 6-3 in the second before dropping the 10-point tiebreaker against Nica Sobrepena in the top singles match. 

At No. 2 doubles, Juliette Irwin and Caroline Niethammer won the first set, 6-2, and led 5-4 and 30-0 in the second set before the team of Kennedy Weir and Audrey Watkins came back to win back-to-back tiebreakers: 7-5 in the second set, and 10-3 in the single-game third frame.

Garcia and Pierre are now the last two players left in action for St. Francis, which graduates five other seniors. Phillips, Hayley Labia and Norah Zhou closed out their careers on the RHS courts, while Madeline Welch and Becca Weil were honored during the team's home finale with Davis back on October 20.

The pairings for the CIF-SJS individual tournaments will be announced on site on the morning of the event.
