ELK GROVE, Calif. – Senior Hayley Labia won a thrilling 11-9 tiebreaker in the third set to pick up a victory at No. 3 singles, while the tandem of senior Chloe Garcia and sophomore Anna Dinh scored the lone straight-set doubles win, but Pleasant Grove claimed four out of the six singles pairings to top St. Francis, 5-4, in a Delta League girls' tennis dual match Thursday afternoon.

The Troubadours drop their second straight match to fall to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in Delta League play.

Labia won her opening set, 6-3, then evened the match with a 6-4 setback in the second. The third went the distance against Eagle senior Mischa Mikami. Sophomore Arden Garcia, young sister to doubles winner Chloe, snared a 6-3, 6-4 sweep at No. 6 singles. Meanwhile, the elder Garcia and Dinh won by an identical 6-3, 6-4 tally against Jackie Errera and Abigail Wan in the top doubles match.

Caroline Niethammer and Arini Tandon prevailed over Lauren Hoang and Julian Orozco in No. 3 doubles battle. The won the first set, 7-5, then dropped the second by the same tally. Niethammer/Tandon outlasted their hosts, 10-8, in the tiebreaker.

Thursday's dual marked the third match in four days for St. Francis, which inserted a makeup date from a previous postponed dual with Cosumnes Oaks on Monday prior to a regularly scheduled visit to Franklin on Tuesday. The Troubies make a fourth straight trip into Elk Grove, this time at EGHS on Monday – a match originally slated for September 6 but pushed back during that week's heat wave.
