St. Francis opens Delta League play with 8-1 win

ELK GROVE, Calif. – St. Francis won all three doubles matches and five of the six singles pairings in straight sets, claiming an 8-1 win over Cosumnes Oaks in Delta League girls' tennis action Monday afternoon. The dual match was initially scheduled for September 8, but was postponed due to excessive heat in the Sacramento area during that week.

The Troubadours improve to 3-0 overall and open Delta League play at 1-0.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of Juliette Irwin and Sophia Troppmann enjoyed the most decisive win with a 6-1, 6-1 victory; while Lucy Phillips posted a "double-bagel" triumph at No. 6 singles.

St. Francis returns to action with more Delta League road matches at Franklin and Pleasant Grove on Tuesday and Thursday, then makes yet another trip south to Elk Grove for a rescheduled dual on Monday, September 19.
