DAVIS, Calif. – Sophomore Maria McDougall advanced to the title match of the Championship draw while junior Sophia Troppmann posted three straight wins to capture the 'B' draw, highlighting St. Francis at the Sierra Foothill League girls' tennis singles championships at Davis Senior High Monday.

McDougall swept a pair of Blue Devils on their home court, dispatching Kyla Schumann by scores of 6-0, 6-1 in the first round; then Hannah Proctor, 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinal. She then fell to Folsom's Jayani Sri Nandika Duggirala in the Championship final in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. Troppmann rolled past Rocklin's Ava Hudson, 6-0, 6-1, to open the 'B' bracket, then prevailed in two sets over Del Oro's Rylan Tucker, 6-1, 6-3. The Troubie junior then beat Golden Eagle Raina Banks in an 8-5 pro set in the 'B' final.

Also representing St. Francis in the main bracket were freshman Alexandra Wallace and senior Tatum Walbeck, who lost to Sri (6-3, 6-1) and Granite Bay's Christi Tolson (6-0, 6-1) in the first round, respectively. Wallace and Walbeck then squared off in an all-Troubadour consolation semifinal, with Wallace coming out on top in the single pro set, 8-5.

Sophomore Sarah Ramos-Lasso joined Troppmann in the 'B' draw. She lost to Banks in the opener, 1 and 1, then bounced back to take down DO's Sutton Carter, 8-1. Wallace and Ramos-Lasso each lost in the consolation finals: Wallace to Whitney's Alexa Nguyen, 8-0; Ramos-Lasso against Folsom's Ziming Qi, 8-2.

St. Francis did not have any entrants in the eight-player 'C' draw, won by Whitney's Shruti Rajesh in an 8-5 battle over DO's Caitlyn Stosen.

The top three individuals in the SFL earn spots in the Sac-Joaquin Section individual tournament, held at Johnson Ranch Racquet Club in Roseville on Nov. 7 and 8. In the meantime, the SFL holds its individual doubles championship on Thursday, also at Davis. Furthermore, St. Francis will compete as one of the six team qualifiers from the league in the SJS Division I bracket, which begins on November 4.
