St. Francis holds off Whitney at Turkey Creek

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Senior Arden Han-Wei finished with a 3-over-par 39 on the front nine of Turkey Creek Golf Club to lift St. Francis to a 212-219 win over Whitney in Sierra Foothill League girls' golf action Tuesday night.

The seven-stroke margin is the closest for the Troubadours since the 231-233 win over Folsom as part of the 2024 SFL tournament slightly more than one year ago. St. Francis improves to 8-3 in dual play.

Following Han-Wei in the order was sophomore Chloe Jun, who sank her team's only birdie of the day en route to a 5-over 41. Freshman Riya Chima turned in a 42, with freshman Sophia Gonzales and juniors Nydia Garcia and Momina Niazi each finishing three strokes back of Chima with matching 45 scores.

Additionally, freshman Ava Grace Macreadie made her season debut as an exhibition player. She finished with 58 strokes.

Whitney's Peyton Chan had the best round of the day for either team, finishing a stroke ahead of Han-Wei with a 2-over 38.

St. Francis returns to action just 24 hours after the tee-off at Turkey Creek, heading to Del Oro's home course of Ridge Golf Course in Auburn for a rare Wednesday dual. The match was originally scheduled for Thursday but moved up by a day to provide course availability.
