Troubies drop close call against Oak Ridge

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Chloe Jun scored a team-best 38 but St. Francis surrendered a 213-204 loss to Oak Ridge in a Sierra Foothill League golf dual match at Haggin Oaks Arcade Creek course Thursday.

The Troubadours, who were missing senior and leading scorer Arden Han-Wei, move to 4-2 for the season.

Jun was the lone SF player with a score less than 40. Junior Momina Niazi carded a 42, junior Nydia Garcia and freshman Sophia Gonzales had matching 43s, with freshman Riya Chima rounding out the scoring with a 47. Senior Gianna Seghesio finished with a 50.

Thursday's dual was contested on the course's back nine, but Gonzales sank an eagle-3 on the famed "Double Cross" home hole. Jun had back-to-back birdies on the par-5 13th and par-3 14th to highlight her round.

St. Francis returns to action on Tuesday, making its lone westward league trip for a dual match against Davis at Wildhorse Golf Club.
