Troubies break double-century mark in win at Davis

DAVIS, Calif. – Senior Arden Han-Wei fired birdies on the seventh and ninth holes en route to a 2-over-par 38 while junior Nydia Garcia finished a stroke back at 39, leading St. Francis to a 198-242 victory over Davis in a Sierra Foothill League girls' golf dual match at Wildhorse Golf Course Tuesday afternoon.

The Troubadours improve to 5-2, both overall and in league play.

Garcia drained a birdie-3 on No. 9 to give St. Francis two players under 40. Sophomore Chloe Jun and junior Momina Niazi each turned in identical scores of 4-over 40, with freshman Sophia Gonzales rounding out the team total with her 41. Another freshman, Riya Chima, finished with a 41 on the course's front nine.

In fact, all five scoring Troubies either tied or surpassed the top Blue Devil, junior Lily Lingbloom (41). Bella Trask and Isabel Sluis had Davis' next best scores of matching 48s.

Impressively, St. Francis' 198 represents a 19-stroke improvement over the team's previous visit to Wildhorse: a 217-223 victory over Davis almost exactly one year prior. Furthermore, it marks the first time the team has broken the double-century mark on the road since defeating Cosumnes Oaks, 198-230, at Bartley Cavanaugh on October 3, 2018.

The Troubies return to action at Rocklin on Thursday. Tee time is 3:30 p.m. at Whitney Oaks.
