Chima leads charge as SF golfers enjoy record win

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman Riya Chima carded a 1-under-par 35 while sophomore Chloe Jun and junior Momina Niazi each finished at even-par 36, as St. Francis posted its best score in recorded history with a 185-210 win over Del Oro in Sierra Foothill League girls' golf dual action at Haggin Oaks' Arcade Creek course Tuesday.

The Troubadours, fresh off a 187 against Whitney just five days earlier, improve to 4-1 for the year.

Chima birdied the 136-yard, par-3 11th then followed with a 4 on the par-5 13th to highlight her round. Jun also bested 13 with a birdie, while Niazi one-putted the 11th and 15th for respective birdies. Senior Arden Han-Wei added a 2-over-par 38 while junior Nydia Garcia finished with a 40, meaning all five Troubie scorers enjoyed an equal or better round than the 40 fired by Golden Eagle Ellie Davis.

Sophomore Mira Smith completed the St. Francis lineup with a 49 in the No. 6 spot.

Dual scores are available for St. Francis golf dating back to the 2013 season. The previous low for the Troubadour program was a 186 against Sheldon back on October 10, 2018. Coincidentally, Niazi's older sister, Haanya, was a sophomore in the lineup for that score.

St. Francis completes a three-match homestand on Thursday against Oak Ridge. The Troubies and Trojans will tee off on the front nine at 4 p.m.
