Team depth lifts Troubies past Thunder at Whitney Oaks

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Senior Arden Han-Wei and junior Momina Niazi each finished at 6-over-par 41 to lead St. Francis to a 214-230 win over Rocklin in a Sierra Foothill League girls' golf dual match at Whitney Oaks early Thursday evening.

The Troubies improve to 6-2 at the halfway point of the season.

Freshman Riya Chima followed with a 42, while sophomore Chloe Jun and junior Nydia Garcia each finished at 45 to complete the St. Francis scoring. Anna Schnack rounded out the Troubie lineup with a 55, with Mira Smith and Carter Jarrell each carding matching 47s in exhibition.

Rocklin's Keerit Basra had the best overall score among the 12 lineup player, leading the field by a three-stroke margin with a 3-over 38. However, SF won the team competition with its depth: Han-Wei and Niazi finished one stroke in front of the No. 2 Thunder player, Kennedy Hall. Furthermore, Rocklin counted a 52 and a 54 into its team total, compared to the Troubies' 42 and 45.

The midpoint of the league season ushers in St. Francis' next competition: the 18-hole SFL center tourney at Timber Creek on Tuesday. That event also includes head-to-head scoring for St. Francis-Folsom, Del Oro-Rocklin, Whitney-Oak Ridge and Granite Bay-Davis. Players tee off at 12:30 p.m.
