Troubie JV falls on road at Del Oro

LOOMIS, Calif. – Senior Frannie Wells netted two goals while sophomore Kendal Douglas and Gia Navarrete each posted a goal and an assist, but St. Francis struggled to keep pace with host Del Oro, falling by a 19-4 final score, in the girls' varsity end of a Sierra Foothill League water polo quadrupleheader Monday night.

The Troubadours slip to 8-18 for the year with a 1-9 record in league games. The Golden Eagles improve to 11-16 overall, 3-7 in SFL play.

Navarrete scored her lone goal and assisted on Wells' first in the first quarter. Douglas assisted Navarrete's tally in that opening frame then hit a goal of her own in the second quarter. Then in the third, junior Savannah Hamilton had the dime on Wells' second goal. Navarrete also led the Troubies with three steals.

However, SF went from a 3-2 deficit after seven minutes to an 8-3 hole at halftime, then trailed 16-4 through three quarters.

The Troubie junior varsity followed its older sisters with a 13-3 loss to DO in the final game of Monday's action. Georgianna Williams scored in the first, Molly Suggs in the second, and Adrianna Perri in the fourth for the SF offense. Freshman Audrey Solander posted eight saves plus a steal in defense of the Troubie cage.

St. Francis finishes the regular season with back-to-back home games, first against Oak Ridge on Wednesday. Game times are 4 p.m. for JV, 5 p.m. for varsity to kick off the four-game event at Jesuit.
