SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman center Kathryn Topp scored four total goals while freshman goalkeeper Audrey Solander totaled 17 saves, as St. Francis lost games to El Camino, 9-3, and Nevada Union, 8-7. The setback to the Miners marks an improvement from a 13-3 loss one month earlier at Granite Bay's JV Jamboree.
Topp scored two in each game. She put the Troubadours on the board in the first quarter, then hit the go-ahead goal for a 3-2 lead early in the third. However, the Eagles poured in seven unanswered down the stretch to pull away to the victory.
Topp and Gia Navarrete, the latter of whom was on loan from the varsity team, each scored two goals against NU. Solander posted eight saves in the opener, including two on five-meter penalty shots, then halted nine shots in the nightcap against the Miners.
St. Francis finishes its regular season with two Sierra Foothill League home doubleheaders: Oak Ridge on Wednesday, then Davis on October 27. JV opens Wednesday's overall quadrupleheader at 4 p.m. with varsity following with 5 p.m..
