Troubie JV drops both Day 1 games at Rio

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Molly Suggs scored both of her team's goals against Bella Vista while sophomore Isabella Leyva netted the lone Troubadour score against Davis, as St. Francis dropped both of its Friday games at the Rio Americano JV Closer tournament. The Troubies fell to the Blue Devils by a 22-1 final, then lost the day's finale, 18-2, against the Broncos.

SF falls to 2-19 for the season.

Leyva scored her goal on a Georgianna Williams assist in the second quarter against Davis, which led 7-0 after one quarter and 13-1 at halftime. Suggs found the back of the net in each of the first and third frames versus BV. Sophomore Gabriella Philip provided a defensive highlight with four steals on the day, two in each contest.

The Rio Closer, as the name suggests, was originally scheduled for the weekend of October 24-25, the final allowable dates of the season. The Troubadours face El Camino (10:40 a.m.) and Nevada Union (1:10 p.m.) in Saturday's session of the tourney.
