ELK GROVE, Calif. – Junior Pamela Vargas led St. Francis in each of the varsity 800- and 1,600-meter races as a crew of Troubadours competed in the Glenn Rogers Distance Carnival at Sheldon High Friday night.
Vargas placed eighth in the 800 with a time of two minutes, 36.75 seconds, then took 10th in the 1,600 (5:48.33) for her team's highest individual finishes in each race. Chloe Harrison led the Troubadours in the frosh-soph 800 with a 14th-place 2:47.93, while Ashley Sexauer was the top SF finisher in the frosh-soph 1,600 with her 10th-place 6:18.36.
Due to technical difficulties, results for the meet were not available until Monday, with some times still missing.
The Distance Carnival, now in its 12th overall year, was renamed in memory of the host's beloved cross country coach. Rogers mentored the Huskies since the school opened in 1997 until his passing in 2021. St. Francis entered the majority of its distances crew, save for those competing in Saturday's Sacramento Meet of Champions.
The full Troubie squad returns to action at the Delta League Championship trials at Elk Grove High on April 29.
