Senior bats propel Troubies to first win of 2025
ELK GROVE, Calif. – Senior right fielder Claire Krotine hit 3-for-4 while senior shortstop Kylee Garrett rapped out two doubles and drove in three runs as St. Francis jumped out early in a 4-1 win over Elk Grove in non-league girls' prep softball action Thursday afternoon.

The Troubadours snare their first win of the season to improve to 1-2.

Krotine and Garrett contributed to 12 total hits for St. Francis: sophomore Kinsley Imm finished 2-for-4 in support of her own work in the pitching circle, sophomore second baseman Ariella Alcantar also hit 2-for-4, with Alexis McFarland, Kaili Heeb, and Isabella Barge also earning base hits. Imm went the distance, scattering seven hits with just one walk and one strikeout in 7.0 innings complete.

Garrett delivered a two-run double to highlight the Troubie first, scoring Imm and Marissa Jensen. Heeb, who put St. Francis on the board with an RBI single two batters earlier, was retired at third to end the opening rally. Barge and Garrett tacked on the fourth Troubie run on back-to-back doubles in the seventh.

Imm ran into her only jam when Brooklyn Landrum and Annabel Focht managed back-to-back singles to left with one out in the sixth. The third baseman Barge had an easy force on her bag for the second out, but senior right fielder Savannah Genzler smacked a hit up the middle to bring in Focht and spoil the SF shutout bid. Nonetheless, Imm forced another force out to escape the frame. The Garrett RBI double then extended the Troubie lead back to three, and Imm finished 1-2-3 against the top of the Thundering Herd in the seventh.

Thursday's game was originally scheduled for Wednesday at St. Francis, but area rainfall pushed the game back by 24 hours and moved the contest south to Elk Grove.

The Troubies continue their season with a 3 p.m. road game at Vanden Friday.
