SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A total of 15 St. Francis athletes won 11 first-team all-league awards as the Sierra Foothill League rolled out its spring standings and honors.
The criteria determining All-SFL distinction varies by sport. In softball and lacrosse, first- and second-team selections are determined by a vote of the coaches. In track & field, first-team honors are bestowed upon individuals and relays who win their respective events at the league championship meet. For diving, the top three finishers plus any additional athletes who hit NISCA provisional All-America standards are named to the first team.
In lacrosse, the quartet of Keira Miles, Karly Okamoto, Zia Smith and Cami Zucker made the league's top squad, while outfielder Claire Krotine was the lone Troubadour to earn such honors in softball. Track & field had two SFL champions: Jasleen Gandhoke in the high jump, and the crew of Lucia Vicio, Alexa Randall, Emma Bugarin and Jada Dwyre in the 4x100 relay.
Swimming has two different routes to first-team All-SFL status: finishing amont the top 16 individual scorers at the league championship meet, or being a member of a winning relay at that meet. Erica Jaffe tied for third among the meet scorers back on April 26, while Lilla Kapinya and Marissa Recio also made the top 16. Furthermore, the foursome of Jaffe, Isabelle Schmid, Mia Hill and Kapinya captured the 400 free relay at the league championships.
The 2024-25 school year marked the first year St. Francis competed as a Sierra Foothill League member, although flag football began its membership one year earlier.
