SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Frannie Wells scored two goals while assisting Savannah Hamilton on a third, but St. Francis trailed wire to wire in a 19-6 loss to Oak Ridge in the girls' varsity game of a Sierra Foothill League water polo quadrupleheader Wednesday at Jesuit.

The Troubadours slip to 8-19 for the season with a 1-10 league record.

Hamilton and sophomore Audrey Ellis each tallied a goal and an assist, with Sara Ellis and Maya Wenceslao also finding the back of the net once apiece.

Wells buried a goal from six meters out in the first quarter, pulling SF to within a 4-2 deficit. She later set up the left-handed Hamilton for a successful shot from the 5 spot with 3:38 in the second, then ended the third quarter by draining a shot despite the Trojans' double-goalkeeper defense.

Unfortunately for the Troubies, senior Mckenna Michelin completed her hat trick and drew a five-meter foul in Oak Ridge's 6-2 start in the first quarter. Michelin tacked on three more in the third, then made it a seven-goal night when her long skip shot slipped past SF goalkeeper Sasha Michon with 3:44 left in the contest.

The varsity game followed the St. Francis junior varsity's 13-6 loss to the Trojans. The Troubies put up a strong showing in the first half, trailing by a 6-3 margin at the break and just 7-5 after Georgianna Williams hit a long bomb with 2:46 to go. But the Trojans' Georgia Griffin scored three of her six goals in the final eight minutes of the game to help her team pull away to the seven-goal final margin.

Perri finished with a hat trick, scoring in the first, third and fourth frames for the Troubies. Goalkeeper Audrey Solander tallied four saves and two steals in net.

St. Francis returns to action on Monday for the season finale against Davis. Varsity plays at 6 p.m. with JV following at 7 p.m. The Troubies will honor four seniors prior to the varsity tilt: Wells, Sara Ellis, Ava Jack and Rose Haag.
