CLOVIS, Calif. – Senior Cate Joaquin placed 14th in the girls' 3,200-meter run as the lone St. Francis representative on the final day of the CIF State Track & Field Championships at Buchanan High Saturday. The future Georgetown Hoya crossed in a time of 10 minutes, 49.23 seconds.
Joaquin is one of four Troubadours to qualify for the state meet, along with Tatiana Cornejo (1,600 meters), Kenna DeLemos (long jump) and Maddie Pelfrey (pole vault), each of whom competed in their respective events in Friday's session.
Joaquin finished directly behind another Sac-Joaquin Section qualifier, Whitney's Katie Kopec (10:43.13). Montgomery's Hanne Thomsen won the event with a 10:06.89, continuing a tradition of Santa Rosa state distance champions that includes Julia Stamps and Sara Bei.
Joaquin finishes a track career that includes school records in each of the 1,600 (4:46.42) and 3,200 (10:20.97), three Delta League titles, and wins at the Sacramento Meet of Champions and Arcadia Invitational.
