ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Junior Adithi Benush reached the Sac-Joaquin Section semifinals on Friday before falling 6-2, 6-2 to top-seed Jillian Taggert of Bella Vista.
Benush, the fourth overall seed and Delta League champion, opened play in the 2018 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division I Individual Singles championship with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Hannah Mitka of Turlock on Thursday. She also defeated Astrid Craig of Lincoln of Stockton 6-3, 6-2.
Sophomore Alisha Anwar also represented the Troubadours in the singles draw, falling to top seed Jillian Taggert of Bella Vista in the first round 6-2, 6-2 on Thursday.
Juniors Bianca Ariza and Samantha Sonntag, the Delta League champions, won their opening match on Thursday against Madi Kwong and Megumi Willis of McClatchy 6-1, 6-1. They lost in in the quarterfinals to the top-seeded team from Del Oro of Ali Isaac and Emma Dobson 6-0, 7-6.
The Troubadours continue Sac-Joaquin Section team play on Tuesday against Oak Ridge at 2 p.m. at Rio del Oro Racquet Club.
