ELK GROVE, Calif. – Sophomore Alisha Anwar won in straight sets 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 singles as the St. Francis tennis team improved to 15-1 on the season and 10-0 in league play.
St. Francis swept the singles led by Anwar at the top spot. Sophomores Adithi Benush and Izzy Asker posted identical 6-0, 6-1 victories at No. 2 and 3 singles, respectively. Junior Samantha Sonntag, freshman Safaa Umar and junior Bianca Ariza did not lose a game in sweeping their matches in the bottom three positions.
Junior Peyton Spellacy paired with freshman Maddie Brown to win 6-2, 7-6 (4) at No. 1 singles, while freshman Lauren Lai and sophomore Olivia Hazeghazam were straight set winners at No. 2. The Troubies lost by default in the third doubles spot.
St. Francis travels to Elk Grove on Thursday to complete their action for the week.
