Corlett steps down from Troubie golf helm

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Kelli Corlett has departed her post as head varsity golf coach at St. Francis High, she announced to her team in a special meeting Thursday.

Corlett arrived to the school in the fall of 2019, mentoring the Troubadours to the Delta League crown and a Sac-Joaquin Masters tournament in that first season. The COVID-19 pandemic mostly her second year with the program, but she guided SF back to the CIF-SJS Masters stage last fall, with Delta League Player of the Year Arden Han-Wei leading the way.

"It was an extremely tough decision, and one that did not come easy," Corlett said in a message to her SF athletes and families. "Thank you very much for the many laughs, memories, stories and so much more. It really was fun watching you play, and we wish you nothing but continued success. Coaching is something I have always enjoyed and all of you have added to that."

Also departing the program is former Sacramento State golfer Chloe Bartek. Corlett's father Tom served a volunteer assistant with the Troubies.

A former soccer and golf student-athlete at Dominican, Corlett originally hailed from the area, growing up in Carmichael and graduating from Loretto High in 2005. She was active in the youth golf community for years before joining the Troubie family: serving as the program director for Junior & Disabled Golf for Morton Golf and as the director of programming for The First Tee of Greater Sacramento, among other areas of ambassadorship in the sport. In 2015, Corlett was honored as one of US Kids Golf's Top 50 Kids Teachers.

A search for Corlett's successor will begin immedately, and a posting for the position will be available on the school website (https://www.stfrancishs.org/) in the coming week.
