SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Freshman Arden Han-Wei carded an even-par 36 while senior Julia Geer finished close behind at 3-over 39, leading St. Francis to a 207-268 victory over Sheldon in its first 2022 Delta League girls' golf dual match at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex Wednesday afternoon.
The Troubadours, who finished second in the first Delta League center tournament less than 48 hours prior, opens head-to-head play at 1-0.
St. Francis had the top five overall performers in the match. In addition to Han-Wei and Geer, junior Olivia Lee scored a five-over 41, senior Sydney Hurter turned in a 45, junior Natalie Zipser carded a 46, and senior Brooklyn Carrero finished the round with a 55.
Ariana Chanthalangsy was Sheldon's top finisher, posting a 51.
Han-Wei birdied the par-4 second and fifth, plus the par-5 seventh. Geer birdied the 230-yard seventh, while Lee was even-par for the first four holes to start her round. Wednesday's dual contested on the front nine at Haggin Oaks, covering 2,245 yards from the green tees.
The Sheldon match become the dual kickoff thanks to the postponement of a September 7 road dual at Cosumnes Oaks, which was pushed back due to excessive heat in the region that week. The SF-CO dual has been rescheduled for Tuesday, although that date is tentative.
