ROCKLIN, Calif. – Senior Lexi London amassed 15 points for her 20th game in double digits this season, but it represented almost half of her team's offense as St. Francis made just 13 of 54 overall in a 55-34 loss at Whitney as part of a Sierra Foothill League girls' and boys' basketball doubleheader Friday night.
The Troubadours fall to 9-13 for the year with a 3-7 mark in league. The Wildcats improve to 12-11 overall, and take over sole possession of fourth place in the SFL standings at 4-6.
Besides its 24.1 shooting percentage, St. Francis also struggled from three-point range (1-for-15) and the free-throw line (7-18). Junior Audrey Bashore was the exception on offense, connecting on both of her field-goal attempts in her brief appearance on the court. Freshman Hassanah Ramsey-Gilbert added seven points with nine rebounds and a pair of blocked shots, with fellow ninth-grader Elise Vipond finishing with six points.

Senior Colleen Medina offered a bright spot defensively with her five steals, one of which resulted in a fast break as part of the Troubies' start in the second half.
Still, Whitney took control early in the contest. After London sank a 13-footer in the lane to bring SF to within three at 12-9 with 1:09 left in the first period, Wildcat sophomore Brooklynn Wade buried a three-pointer on the next possession. Then on the ensuing restart, Lilly Molloy intercepted the inbound pass and went straight to the hoop. Medina did her best to draw a charge but Molloy ran right through the Troubie senior before she could establish her feet down low. Whitney led by a 17-9 margin after eight minutes, then enjoyed a 7-0 run midway through the second period en route to a 32-17 lead at halftime.
St. Francis scored in succession to start the third, with Ramsey-Gilbert's move in the paint getting her team started just 17 seconds into the half. Medina later jumped a passing lane and advanced unassisted to the hoop with 7:16 left, pulling the Troubies a little closer at 32-21. Still, the Wildcats maintained their lead throughout, making it a 20-point game for the first time when Sydney Overton buried a corner three at the 3:13 mark. Whitney held that margin through three frames at 47-27, with neither team piling up many points in the fourth.
London's 15 points brings her even closer to becoming just the third St. Francis player in the MaxPreps era (2003-present) to achieve 1,000 career points. Lauren Craig, who went on to play at Pepperdine, was the first to do so, scoring 1,260 during her time from 2012-16. More recently, Sydney Teoh totaled 1,167 points before beginning her collegiate hoop career at Chapman this winter. London now has 992 for her career.
St. Francis returns home to host Rocklin on Tuesday followed by Oak Ridge on Thursday. Both games are doubleheaders with 5:30 and 7 p.m. tips, as neither the Thunder nor the Trojans have frosh-soph teams this season.
