  • Fall Troubies well-repped on All-Delta League teams

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Tatiana Cornejo captured Athlete of the Year for cross country, while first-year varsity mentors Melanie Cleland and Marisa Kolokotronis each earned Coach of the Year honors for cross country and water polo, respectively, as the Delta League rolled out its complete list of year-end honors for fall sports. In all, a total of 19 Troubadour athletes captured All-Delta League accolades in the school’s five Delta League fall sports.

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Safaa Umar was named Most Valuable Player while senior Lauren Lai (Award of Excellence) and junior Hayley Labia (Rising Star Award) also received team honors, as the St. Francis High tennis team held its season banquet at the school's dining hall Thursday night.

    ROSEVILLE, Calif. - St. Francis senior Safaa Umar defeated Gregori Highs Sarah Knowles by scores of 6-4, 6-2, then lost to No. 2-seeded Roxana Shahi of Rocklin in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section singles championship tournament, sponsored by Les Schwab Tires and hosted by Johnson Ranch Racquet Club.

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Safaa Umar, Aniyus Pierre and Lauren Lai each picked up singles wins for St. Francis, but Granite Bay claimed the other three singles matches plus all three doubles victories to take a 6-3 win over the Troubadours in a CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Div. I girls’ tennis championship first-round dual at Rio Del Oro Sports Club Tuesday afternoon.

    St. Francis High tennis' first-round match against Oak Ridge, originally scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Monday, has been postponed to the same time on Tuesday afternoon due to inclement weather. The match will take place at Rio Del Oro Sports Club.
