Bates, Cassidy lead Troubies at BV-CB dual

FAIR OAKS, Calif. – Sophomore Piper Bates shattered her previous six-dive best, compiling 226.28 points total, while fellow 10th-grader Stella Cassidy hit a season-high 188.18, highlighting St. Francis at Bella Vista's dual diving meet against Christian Brothers Thursday.

The Troubadours were guests in the meet, with their scores not counting in the Broncos' and Falcons' head-to-head matchup. However, Bates and Cassidy outperformed Bella Vista's Chloe Jungk, who won the meet with a 184.20. Freshman Audrey Solander scored a 148.13 with freshman Sadie Favreau compiling a 128.78. Solander's score easily eclipsed her previous best of 124.95.

Thursday's meet marks the third time Bates has broken the double-cenutry mark this year. She notched a meet-best 44.55 points in the second round with her 403C, or inward 1.5 somersaults, tuck position. Bates later closed out her program with a 40.95 in her 5231D (back 1.5, half twist, freestyle). Cassidy also finished strong, snaring 36.00 points on her 105C (forward 2.5, tuck) – a dive with a 2.4 degree of difficulty, the highest by any competitor in the meet.

The BV-CB dual meet came up as a late addition to the St. Francis diving schedule, helping to shorten what remains a long hiatus due to the school's spring break. The Troubadours return to action on Wednesday, April 15, for a Sierra Foothill League double dual at Oak Ridge with Granite Bay.
