SF falls to top-ranked Folsom in home finale

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Sydney Teoh scored a team-leading 16 points, junior Lexi London added another 10, while sophomore Tayli Paeu-Lindgren grabbed 12 rebounds, but St. Francis could not keep pace with Folsom in a 77-42 loss in a varsity-only Sierra Foothill League girls' basketball contest Tuesday.

The Troubadours dip to 11-16 for the season and 5-8 in league play. The Bulldogs, ranked No. 1 in the area by MaxPreps.com, improves to 22-3 overall and remains undefeated at 13-0 in SFL games.

Teoh hit 6 of 13 from the floor, including 2-for-4 from three-point range, while adding five assists. London also buried a pair of three-pointers, with one on her team's first possession of the game, to go with six rebounds. Paeu-Lindgren's dozen boards marks her 18th game in double digits this season.

Overall, the Troubies shot a respectable 40 percent from the field (17-for-40) but suffered from 34 turnovers.

Folsom broke loose from a 10-6 start to take a 24-11 lead through the first period, and held steady to a 40-28 advantage at the halftime break. The Bulldogs then proceeded to score 11 unanswered to begin the second half, maintaining at least a 30-point margin for nearly the entirety of the third and fourth frames. Senior and Pacific commit Sophia Mindermann led Folsom with 24 points, helped by five three-pointers.

One Troubie highlight belonged to senior guard Karly Okamoto, who buried a three-pointer directly in front of her bench just under the two-minute mark of the third period. That was the first made trey from a pass-first player since the December 14 road game at Franklin during her junior season.

Tuesday's game represents the regular-season home finale for varsity, which closes out the SFL slate in a doubleheader with Jesuit at Davis on Friday. Meanwhile, the SF junior varsity will close out its year on Thursday at home against the Blue Devils. The Troubie jayvees canceled their opener against Folsom due to a shortage of players.
