SF hoop tames Wildcats on Senior Night
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Sydney Teoh drained four three-pointers on 12-for-22 overall shooting for 28 points while sophomore Tayli Paeu-Lindgren notched a double-double of 22 points and 17 rebounds, leading St. Francis to a dominating 68-48 win over Whitney in the girls' opener of a Sierra Foothill League basketball doubleheader Friday night.

The Troubadours improve to 10-14 for the season with a 4-6 record in league play. The Wildcats slip to 13-11 overall and 4-6 in SFL meetings.

Paeu-Lindgren's 22 and 17 marks her 12th double-double of the year, and her first since spring for 13 and 19 at home against Oak Ridge exactly two weeks prior. Additionally, the rebounding performance raises her season total to 307, marking just the third time a Troubadour player has reached the triple-century plateau during the school's MaxPreps era (2004-present). Future Pepperdine recruit Lauren Craig hit that figure in both 2013-14 (332) and 2014-15 (343).

Teoh and Karly Okamoto were honored prior to the contest as the program's Senior Night, although St. Francis varsity still has another home game left on its slate. The twinbill also marked a rare doubleheader with Jesuit, which took on Whitney in the nightcap. The Troubies played on the Marauders' home floor one week prior against Davis, then returned the favor on Friday – in part due to campus events taking place in the respective gyms during those weekends.

Junior Lexi London added another 10 points, eight of which came before the halftime break. Overall, St. Francis poured in 26 of its 68 tallies in the second period, with Paeu-Lindgren and Teoh accounting for 12 and 10 of that sum. Teoh made shots from all over the court: a three-pointer to start the frame, an up-and-under make with 6:27 to go, a drive through the lane at 3:27, and her classic mid-range jumper with 2:22 to go. She also assisted Paeu-Lindgren early in the second as part of a 15-0 overall run.

Natalia Zitelli, known more for her defense contributions, capped that shutout stretch with a Scottie Pippen-style 14-footer off the glass at the 5:48 mark. Paeu-Lindgren scored 10 points in the final 1:47 before the break. Six of those took place at the free-throw line, with four straight coming on hard fouls while grabbing offensive rebounds.

St. Francis, which began the game in a 5-0 hole, led 18-12 through the first period and 44-20 at the halftime break. The Troubies maintained at least a 15-point edge throughout the second half, with Kendall Dykstra scoring 13 of her 21 points after the intermission. The Wildcats' smallest deficit came with 3:31 remaining in the game, after senior guard Maile Takahashi drained back-to-back corner threes from either end of the court.

Okamoto grabbed six rebounds and matched Paeu-Lindgren with four assists. Paeu-Lindgren also blocked four shots and nabbed three steals on defense to go with her rebounding and scoring.

The two SF hoop squads each head to Rocklin on Tuesday for continued SFL play. Game times are 6 p.m. and 7:30 for JV and varsity, respectively.
