Angove scores, assists in 3-2 win over Oak Ridge
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Miley Blough scored a goal in each half while Azaria Agbodike and Lily Hall also found the back of the net as St. Francis blanked Oak Ridge, 4-0, in the varsity segment of Thursday's Sierra Foothill League girls' soccer tripleheader at Adamson Family Sports Complex.

The Troubadours improve to 13-5-4 overall, with a 5-4-4 mark in league competition. The Trojans slip to 2-12-2 for the year, 1-9-2 in SFL play.

Blough indirectly led to the first goal of the game when she delivered a cross to Agbodike in the box. Agbodike's first shot was blocked by the OR defender, but she immediately fired her own rebound to the lower left corner of the cage. Blough hit her first goal at the 20:35 mark in the first, or 20th minute, when Lacey Harmon played a corner kick short along the right side.

St. Francis continued to dominate possession in the second half, although it took until the 75th minute to add to the lead. Blough handled a corner kick and sent the ball toward the near post. Marissa Ow was unable to get a shot on it, but played it back out to Blough. The Fresno State commit brought the ball a few steps into the box before cracking a shot cross-cage to the left side for her second brace of the season.

Hall made it a four-goal margin in the 79th minute when she fired from the left side. An Oak Ridge defender swooped in to block the shot, but instead deflected it away from her own goalkeeper. Meanwhile, goalkeepers Millie Katzeff and Mia Rabinovitz combined for the shutout with save totals of four and three, respectively.

Blough's two goals raises her season total to 13, the most since current Sacramento State junior Micaela Romo netted that many as a senior in 2022-23.

Thursday's game also served as Senior Night, during which the team honored 10 grads-to-be: varsity players Blough, Ow, Sara Ellis, Evelyn McNearney, Mia Nelson, Holland Sperber and Madeline Squaglia; plus varsity manager Gianna Aragon and JV Red managers Ava Larkin and Brooke Larkin. The varsity contest even featured an emotional moment when Ellis, who has been sidelined by injury since the first month of the year, was granted the honor of handling the opening kickoff.

All three St. Francis squads posted victories to compile a tripleheader sweep over the Trojans. JV Gold began the set with a 2-1 win, with Bridget Beard and Anna George scoring first-half goals. Only an Autumn Carter goal just two seconds before halftime prevented a shutout. Troubie goalkeeper Alyssa Becze had corraled the third of her five total saves but Carter literally kicked the ball from her hands to complete the goal.

JV Red finished the night with a 3-2 win. Anna Votaw, Paityn Lowery and Gabrielle Angove each scored goals, with Angove also tallying an assist. Angove had the go-ahead, following up a Lily Hosseini free kick to break a 1-1 tie in the 38th minute.

The Troubie soccer program completes its regular season on Monday with a home tripleheader against Davis. Per the SFL's Tuesday format, JV Red leads off the evening with a 3:30 start, varsity plays at 5:30, then JV Gold completes the set with a 7:15 p.m. start. Del Oro and Rocklin lead the league with 31 and 28 points, respectively. Davis has clinched third place by virtue of its six wins and five ties for 23 points.

However, with Whitney (4-1-8 for 20 points) holding a one-point lead in the standings ahead of St. Francis (5-4-4, 19 points), a Troubadour win over the Blue Devils combined with a Wildcat loss or tie would switch those two teams in the SFL race. Furthermore, St. Francis has been designated to Sac-Joaquin Section Division I for 2025-26, meaning a victory on Monday will help protect its seeding in the postseason.
