Early DO goals in each half sink Troubie JV Red

LOOMIS, Calif. – St. Francis dropped all three games, including two shutouts, during a Sierra Foothill League girls' soccer tripleheader to Del Oro on Fletcher-Chrsitiansen Field at Golden Eagles Stadium Tuesday. The Troubadour varsity lost by a 3-0 final, following a 2-1 loss for SF's Red junior varsity squad, with JV Gold dropping the finale by a 1-0 score.

The Troubie varsity slips to 12-5-4 for the year with a 4-4-4 league record. The Golden Eagles, ranked third among Sac-Joaquin Section Division I teams by MaxPreps, remains undefeated at 8-0-4.

St. Francis surrendered its first goal just three minutes and 15 seconds into the contest, then gave up two more goals before the halftime break. The Troubies also managed just nine shots for the game.

JV Red had the lone St. Francis goal of the night, with freshman Lily Hosseini hooking a corner kick into the cage early in the first half. However, the younger Troubie squad gave up a goal on the opening play of each half to drop the opener by a 2-1 final. Gold gave up its goal with 4:05 left in the first half, or the 36th minute, on a DO corner kick. The Troubie defense blocked four shots on the play but could not clear the box. Finally, a left-footed volley found its way into the cage for the only score of the nightcap.

Oddly, the 3-0 loss for varsity marks its widest margin of defeat since January 9, 2025 – also at Del Oro.

St. Francis closes the regular season with home games against Oak Ridge (Thursday) and Davis (Monday). The team will honor 10 seniors prior to Thursday's varsity contest at approximately 5:20 at Cristo Rey's Adamson Family Sports Complex: Miley Blough, Sara Ellis, Evelyn McNearney, Mia Nelson, Marissa Ow, Holland Sperber, Madeline Squaglia, varsity manager Gianna Aragon, and JV Red managers Ava Larkin and Brooke Larkin.
