ROCKLIN, Calif. – Freshman guard Sydney Teoh scored 27 points, including 15 in the third quarter alone, leading St. Francis' junior varsity Gold to a 52-35 win over Del Oro in the Blue Bracket third-place game of the Rocklin Winter girls' basketball tournament Thursday.
The Troubadours improve to 8-3 for the year. They also went 1-2 in the tournament but were moved to the championship bracket after Folsom withdrew from the draw. Impressively, the Troubies fielded a reduced roster during the week, with several key players absent for the holiday break.
Guard Sianna Squires and post Amanda Cloninger added eight points each in support of Teoh. Cloninger hit a bucket in every quarter, while Squires tallied all of her offense in the Troubies' 21-6 second quarter.
St. Francis JV Gold returns to action on January 8 as part of the Holy Court rivalry event with Christian Brothers.
