Troubie swim opens 2025 season with Cougars

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Mia Hill won two individual events while taking part in two first-place freestyle relays, as St. Francis welcomed Carondelet in a meeting of two of Northern California's premier all-girls' Catholic schools as part of a doubleheader swim meet at Jesuit Thursday.

The Cougars came away with a 93-77 win over the Troubadours in the varsity events, 92-78 in junior varsity races. De La Salle and the host Marauders squared off on the boys side, with the Spartans posting a 109-61 victory.

Hill won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of two minutes, 13.72 seconds; then later claimed the 100 freestyle at 56.26. The St. Bonaventure commit also joined Lexie DeAngelis, Marissa Recio and Lilla Kapinya in the 200 free relay with a 1:42.40 winning time, then anchored the victorious 400 free relay to a 3:46.37, along with Erica Jaffe, Landen Didriksen and DeAngelis in the order.

The sophomore Kapinya also snared an individual win in the 50 free at 25.29, while Recio claimed the 100 butterfly at 29:15.

On the JV side, freshman Madeline Kann swept the sprint free races with times of 26.63 and 58.94 in the two events, respectively. Freshman Riley Wood also doubled up, touching home first in the 500 free (5:46.35) and 100 backstroke (1:06.33). Wood and Kann also teamed with Lena Moggan and Lillian Damrell for the winning 200 medley relay, leading off the meet with a 2:00.41 aggregate time.
