TRACY, Calif. – The St. Francis softball team lost to Del Oro 3-2 in the Gold Bracket final Saturday night, snapping a five-game overall winning streak.
Senior Bella Valentine went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Danni Guerrera added a run-scoring single as the Troubadours built a 2-1 lead. But Del Oro scored twice in the final inning to sneak out the victory.
St. Francis advanced to the Gold Championship game with a 7-4 victory over Lincoln of Lincoln.
Gabbi Guerrera knocked in three runs on a 2-for-4 game, while Paige Herbert added two RBI with her 2-for-4 game at the plate. Both had a double in the game, while Guerra added a triple to join Sydney Littles with a three-bagger.
Hath got the win with three runs allowed (0 earned) over four inning as 4-3 lead. Hope Jenkins pitched the final three innings for the save. The Troubies added three insurance runs in the seventh to helop seal the victory.
