SF water polo dominates Day 2 in Clovis

CLOVIS, Calif. – Senior Miranda Ferguson scored seven goals and six goals in two games, including five scores in the morning matchup against Bella Vista, helping St. Francis to a Day 2 sweep at the Central Valley Showdown, held at Clovis High Saturday. The Troubadours rolled past both opponents, crushing BV by a 14-3 final before blanking Willow Glen, 8-0.

SF improves to 3-0 for the year. 

Senior Sophia Santsche-Chavez posted 18 saves against three goals on the day: seven against the Broncos, then 11 in the shutout against the Rams. Piper Brostrom added another four goals, Abigail Benavidez chipped in a hat trick, with Frannie Wells and Addison Hutchcraft each netting a goal in the morning win.

Benavidez hit another three goals against WG, with Ferguson and Emma Dietrich each chipping in two. Benavidez, Santsche-Chavez and Ferguson also had three steals apiece in the nightcap. This marked the Troubies' first shutout since a 25-0 win against Franklin in October last season.

St. Francis returns to action at home against Rio Americano on Wednesday in a quadrupleheader with Jesuit. Varsity starts at 6:30 p.m., with JV following at 7:45.
