Kelly Chavez is a senior on the St. Francis lacrosse team. She is still waiting to hear back from colleges but hopes to study economics at a school in the South. She has been inspired by her service trips and hopes to return to make a difference.
What do you want to make out of your final months at St. Francis?
"I want to make memories with my friends and hang out even on school nights."
What has it meant to you to play lacrosse?
"I have met a bunch of people I probably would have not known. (It has been fun) working as a team and connecting with people."
Have you always played lacrosse and how have you gotten better?
"I started playing freshmen year. As a freshman I did not want the ball. I would go to the opposite field of the ball. I was too afraid to get it. Now I am good."
What do your senior teammates mean to you?
"They mean a lot and they always make me laugh. They are a fun team."
What is a fun fact about Kelly?
"I like traveling."
Tell us about your service trips?
"I went to Africa (with Global Leadership Adventures) going into junior year and Nicaragua (G&) before senior year. I learned that it does not take money and materials to be happy. They love being with their families."
What is your best quality on the lacrosse field?
"I try to keep the defense up when we get down."

What is your Greatest Achievement: Picked to go to Nicaragua.
