Post play highlights JV Gold, but SF falls to Oak Ridge
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Lexi London scored 13 points while Hassanah Ramsey-Gilbert and Colleen Medina added nine and eight, respectively, but St. Francis could not keep pace with first-place Oak Ridge, falling by a 76-40 final in the varsity nightcap of a Sierra Foothill League girls' basketball doubleheader Thursday night.

The Troubadours slip to 10-14 for the year with a 4-8 record in league play. The Trojans move to 18-6 overall and remain undefeated atop the SFL standings at 12-0.

London hit five field goals, including three from beyond the three-point arc. Ramsey-Gilbert and Medina each sank three buckets while sharing the team lead with five rebounds apiece. Medina also shot 2-for-2 from long range, with her treys book-ending the scoring in the second half.

Freshman Elise Vipond, Natalia Zitelli and Jocelyn Dickinson also knocked down field goals for SF, with Vipond hitting a three early in the fourth period while finishing 2 of 2 at the line for five points.

St. Francis trailed for almost the entirety of the game despite taking the initial lead. London sank a 23-footer for the game's first score, but Trojan senior Sophia Ross scored 10 points in the first period, including two bombs as part of her team's 16-0 run. OR led by a 21-6 margin through the first eight minutes, and held a 34-16 advantage at the halftime break.

Medina canned her trey to lead off the second half, then London hit back-to-back treys to close the gap to 36-25 in the first 100 seconds after the break. Oak Ridge countered with a run of 14 unanswered, half of which came from junior wing Leah Harris, to stretch its edge to 50-25. London drove the lane to end the Troubie scoring drought at 3:39, only for Ross to drain a step-back three on the other end.

The Trojans maintained at least a 30-point lead throughout the fourth. SF head coach Brittany Woodard commended her starters for continuing their efforts despite the deficit, then allowed four reserves to join Medina on the court for the final stretch.

The varsity loss followed a 49-22 setback for St. Francis' Gold junior varsity squad. Posts Catherine Gustafson and Carley Glenn each shot 3-for-8 from the field toward scoring totals of eight and six, but the Trojans piled up 15 points in the second period and outscored their hosts by a 25-9 margin after the break.

JV Red had a bye on the schedule, as Oak Ridge does not have a frosh-soph squad in 2025-26. Red will play at West Park on Friday for a 4 p.m. tip. Meanwhile, all three SF programs host their annual Parochial Athletic League tournament for seventh- and eighth-graders on Friday and Saturday.

JV Gold and varsity will return to action on Tuesday for an SFL road doubleheader at Folsom.
