Volleyball Earns Top 20 State, Regional Preseason Rankings

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis volleyball team earned top 20 preseason state and regional rankings this week leading up to the opening of the 2019 campaign on Aug. 26 against Roseville. The Troubadours are ranked No. 16 in the Cal-Hi Sports Girls State Top 20, while the Sacramento Bee listed the Troubies at No. 2 in today edition of the newspaper.

"We are really excited about the rankings," said senior Chloe Henning. "We are working really hard in practice to keep the rankings and go higher in the season."

Head Coach Alynn Wright returns 12 letter winners from her program that advanced to the CIF Northern California Regional semifinals, reached the Sac-Joaquin Section finals and won the Delta League title with a 34-6 overall record.

"We really have been trying to focus on giving 100 percent of our effort during practice," said Henning. "We are super-excited about the season and working hard."

The Troubies face Bee No. 1 Rocklin on Aug. 27, No. 16 El Camino on Aug 29, No. 8 Christian Brothers on Sept. 3 and No. 5 Oak Ridge on Sept. 5 in an exciting and challenging first week.

Other schools in the top 20 on the 2019 schedule include Delta League foes No. 6 Pleasant Grove and No. 11 Cosumnes Oaks.

SF opens with Roseville in the Foundation Game on Monday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. followed by Rocklin on Tuesday, Aug. 27. The freshmen game opens the action at 4:30 p.m.
