EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. – The foursome of Paige Vicente, Piper Bates, Stella Cassidy and Maya Hamilton finished second through fifth, respectively, among a field of 16 overall divers to boost St. Francis to head-to-head wins against both Granite Bay and host Oak Ridge in a Sierra Foothill League 1-meter diving meet at El Dorado Hills Community Pool Wednesday afternoon.

The diving competition kicks off an overall swimming & diving dual meet that resumes with the swim portion on Thursday. Trojan Mimi Poort won the overall meet with a 265.60 total, but the Troubadours' taking second through fourth locked up a 9-7 scoring advantage in the SF-OR matchup. The Grizzlies did not field a diver, thus giving the Troubies the maximum 13-0 margin. Both scores will be applied to Thursday's double dual, also at the EDH Community Pool.

The UC Santa Cruz-bound Vicente enjoyed her largest scoring boost in the fourth round, earning awards of 7.0-6.0-6.5 en route to 46.80 points with her forward 2.5 pike (105B). She also closed the meet with a 37.80 bump on her 403B, or inward 1.5 pike.

Bates followed in third place with a career-best 193.80, with her highest score coming in the second round: a 39.10 total on her back 1.0 free with 1.5 twists (5223D). She has now popped scores of 192.40, 192.15 and 193.80 across her last three meets. Fellow freshman Stella Cassidy took fourth at 178.45, just ahead of Hamilton in fifth (177.40). Also representing St. Francis were Hana Beauchamp in eighth (149.45), Rose Buffleben in ninth (146.75), Alex Suter in 10th (135.55) and Lily Olsen in 13th (100.05)

The Troubies return to action on Tuesday with a relatively late addition the schedule: a meet at Cortopassi Aquatics Center at St. Mary's in Stockton. In addition to seeing competition from the San Joaquin half of the section, the April 15 event provides familiarity with the site of the May 5 CIF-SJS diving championships. Meet time is 4 p.m.
