Cassidy posts first double-century score as a Troubie

RIO LINDA, Calif. – Freshman Stella Cassidy scored a winning 200.85 while fellow ninth-grader Piper Bates added a third-place 192.15 total to lead all St. Francis divers at a Sierra Foothill League diving meet with Rocklin and Del Oro at Capital Divers Wednesday.

The Troubadours scored the maximum 13 team points in the matchups against Rocklin and DO, neither of which had any entrants in the meet. Rio Americano did have three competitors in attendance, however.

Cassidy becomes the second Troubadour of the year to crack the double-century mark for a six-dive dual format, joining senior Paige Vicente, who performed that feat in the two previous meets but was not in Wednesday's competition. She enjoyed her high-scoring push in the fifth round, thanks to 6.0-6.5-6.5 awards on her 5132D (forward 1.5 with a twist freestyle). Cassidy's 34.65 on her 5231D, or back 1.5 with a half twist free, pushed her over the 200-point threshold.

Bates' score sits one fourth of a point behind her high of 192.40 from the March 19 dual with Davis. She piled up 38.50 points in the fourth round, a 104C (forward 2.0 tuck). Senior Maya Hamilton compiled a fourth-place 180.55 for her best dual meet since her massive personal-record 193.35 at last year's April 10 visit to St. Mary's.

Junior Hana Beauchamp (154.55) and freshman Alex Suter (147.50) also posted sizable PRs, with freshman Lillian Olsen making her season debut (108.70) to further represent St. Francis in the meet.

The divers return to action in exactly one week, taking on Oak Ridge and Granite Bay in a meet currently slated for the El Dorado Hills CSD pool.
