FOLSOM, Calif. – Freshman Nevaeh Gavino scored 11 and Lucia Vicio added 10 points to lead St. Francis to a 37-35 win over Folsom in frosh girls' basketball action Thursday night.
The Troubadours win their third straight game to improve to 11-4 for the year.
No other individual stats were available from the game. St. Francis held a 25-14 halftime lead, then extended their edge to 17 at the end of three quarters before the host Bulldogs mounted a comeback in the fourth. Folsom even had a chance to tie the game, going to the free-throw line for a one-and-one trip with just seven seconds remaining. However, SF won the defensive rebound after the front-end miss, and ran out the clock to protect the win.
JV Red, which already had a January 4 game at Nevada Union postponed, had Friday's road game against Rosemont canceled due to the unavailability of officials. The Troubies will now return to action at El Dorado on January 20. The older JV Gold and varsity squads head to Christian Brothers on Saturday for the annual Holy Hoops rivalry game.
