ROCKLIN, Calif. – Freshman post Alexis Heise tallied game highs of 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead St. Francis junior varsity Red squad to a 55-35 win over Oak Ridge in the semifinal round of the Rocklin Winter Tournament Wednesday.
The Troubadours extend their win streak to eight, improving to 9-1 for the year. They will face Vista Del Lago in Thursday's frosh championship at noon.
Heise poured in six buckets in the second half as part of her season-high scoring total. Perhaps not coincidentally, her previous 2021-22 high also came against Oak Ridge, located in her hometown of El Dorado Hills. After the game, head coach John Bashore bestowed the Hard Hat Award upon Heise for her efforts.
Guard Lilian Vicio added 14 points with three three-pointers while Caitlyn Lee added another 11. Sophia Hendrix and Sydney Chow each added four to account for the remaining Trouble offense, and both posts had 10 rebounds apiece to aid Heise on the boards.
Lee also chipped in five assists and six steals. She played the point for the majority of the contest, filling in for the absence of usual starter Karly Okamoto.
St. Francis held a 16-3 lead after the first quarter and a 25-12 edge at halftime.
