FOLSOM, Calif. – St. Francis swept host Folsom by scores of 26-24, 25-16 to claim the JV Bulldog Bash tournament championship Saturday. The Troubadours improve to 9-0 for the year, with all but two of those victores coming in straight sets.
St. Francis opened with a 25-13, 22-25, 15-5 win over Vista Del Lago, rolled past Oakmont, 25-10, 25-9, then split sets with Vacaville, 25-11, 18-25, 15-11 to advance to bracket play. The Troubies then swept both Whitney and Folsom to capture the tournament title.
The Bulldog Classic is the first of three tournaments for St. Francis JV this year, along with the 16th Stockton Classic on September 21 and the Carmichael Invitational on Sept. 28. All three teams kick off their first seasons in the Sierra Foothill League with a road tripleheader at Rocklin on Monday.
