Appropriately enough, when St. Francis seniors Sydney Chow, Mana Jafari, Nika Jafari and Copeland Williams launched a non-profit operation called Volley For A Cause, they did so out of a desire to serve.

    FOLSOM, Calif. – Opposite Gabrielle Rowe and setter Nika Jafari earned spots in the Sacramento Breakfast Optimist’s senior all-star volleyball match, held at Folsom Lake College Sunday afternoon. Rowe and Jafari each played in the large-schools match for the South squad, which ultimately lost in heartbreaking fashion to the North team in five sets, 21-25, 15-25, 26-24, 25-19, 16-14.

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore opposite Gilly Glikman posted career highs of 14 kills and 41 attacks while senior Gabrielle Rowe provided six blocks to help St. Francis fight back from a 2-0 match deficit, but visiting Del Oro dominated the early going of the fifth frame in a Sierra Foothill League girls’ varsity volleyball match Wednesday night. The Troubies lost by scores of 26-24, 25-23, 18-25, 23-25, 15-9.
