Troubie Spotlight: Volley For A Cause
March 24, 2025SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Every point, set or match in volleyball begins with one event: service. Appropriately enough, when St. Francis seniors Sydney Chow, Mana Jafari, Nika Jafari and Copeland Williams launched a non-profit operation called Volley For A Cause, they did so out of a desire to serve. -
Rowe, Jafari represent SF at Optimist All-Stars
December 15, 2024FOLSOM, Calif. – Opposite Gabrielle Rowe and setter Nika Jafari earned spots in the Sacramento Breakfast Optimist’s senior all-star volleyball match, held at Folsom Lake College Sunday afternoon. Rowe and Jafari each played in the large-schools match for the South squad, which ultimately lost in heartbreaking fashion to the North team in five sets, 21-25, 15-25, 26-24, 25-19, 16-14.

Paeu-Lindgren leads 10 first-team All-SFL honorees in fall haul
December 09, 2024SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Tayli Paeu-Lindgren took part in a three-way tie for Offensive MVP in girls’ flag football, leading a host of St. Francis athletes in the fall All-Sierra Foothill League honor roll, as announced by the conference office this week.

October 31, 2024FOLSOM, Calif. – Junior middle blocker Marissa Jensen contributed on four of her team’s six total blocks while senior defensive specialist Mana Jafari served up three aces, but seventh-seeded St. Francis came up short against second-seeded Folsom in the second round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I girls’ volleyball championship tournament Thursday night.

Troubies breeze past Knights in SJS Div. I opener
October 29, 2024SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomores Gilly Glikman and Sophia Palmeri combined for 21 kills and just one attacking error while junior libero Malia Fat collected a career-high 23 digs, helping seventh-seeded St. Francis roll to a 25-9, 25-14, 25-7 sweep against 10th-seeded Thomas Downey in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I girls’ volleyball championship tournament Tuesday night.

Volleyball hosts Thomas Downey in SJS playoff opener
October 25, 2024SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis earned a No. 7 seed and will host 10th-seeded Thomas Downey in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I girls’ volleyball championship tournament, the section office announced Friday afternoon. Match time is 6 p.m. in the school’s main gym.

October 23, 2024SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The senior trio of outside hitter Layla Alexander, middle blocker Isabella Ramos and opposite Gabrielle Rowe combined for 31 kills and just seven errors for a combined .414 average as St. Francis swept Davis, 25-15, 25-10, 25-14, in the varsity finale of a Sierra Foothill League girls’ volleyball tripleheader Wednesday night.

Troubies fall in pivotal five-set match with Del Oro
October 16, 2024SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore opposite Gilly Glikman posted career highs of 14 kills and 41 attacks while senior Gabrielle Rowe provided six blocks to help St. Francis fight back from a 2-0 match deficit, but visiting Del Oro dominated the early going of the fifth frame in a Sierra Foothill League girls’ varsity volleyball match Wednesday night. The Troubies lost by scores of 26-24, 25-23, 18-25, 23-25, 15-9.

October 14, 2024SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Layla Alexander posted nine kills as part of her team’s .328 hitting, Sydney Chow and Hailey Sutton combined for nine of 14 total aces, while Isabella Ramos contributed on seven of St. Francis’ eight team blocks in a 25-22, 25-14, 25-10 sweep of Whitney in the varsity nightcap of a Sierra Foothill League home tripleheader Monday night.

Tigers defend title at St. Francis PAL Tournament
October 12, 2024SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Ignatius swept Sacred Heart by scores of 25-20, 25-13, in the championship final of the 2024 St. Francis Parochial Athletic League tournament on Saturday. The PAL featured eight schools that, like SF, operate under the auspices of the Diocese of Sacramento.

October 05, 2024STOCKTON, Calif. – St. Francis posted straight-set victories against California and Heritage, beat Ripon in split sets in bracket play, then fell in three sets, 26-24, 23-25, 15-6, to Amador Valley to finish second at the Tokay site of the 16th Stockton Classic varsity girls’ volleyball tournament Saturday.

September 06, 2024MERCED, Calif. – St. Francis defeated Golden Valley, Le Grand, Livingston and Tokay in succession, each in straight sets, to wrap Day 1 action at the Central California Classic girls’ varsity volleyball tournament at GV Friday night. The two-day tournament features 20 schools scattered at four schools: Golden Valley, Buhach Colony, El Capitan and Merced.
