Troubie frosh wins third straight Stockton Classic

LODI, Calif. – St. Francis swept Marin Catholic by scores of 25-21 and 26-24 in the title match of the 16th Stockton Frosh Classic, hosted by Tokay High. This is the third straight year the Troubadours have won this event, and the second consecutive with a finale win over the Wildcats.

St. Francis went 4-0 for the day, surrendering only one set – oddly, against a Sierra Foothill League foe. The Troubies opened with a 25-13, 25-17 win over Lodi, then followed with a sweep of California, 25-12, 27-25. Then in the semifinal match of the bracket portion of the day, they captured a 19-25, 25-13, 15-12 split-set victory against Oak Ridge.

Meanwhile, Marin Catholic went the distance against Rocklin, 25-16, 22-25, 15-11, to force a rematch with SF.

The Stockton Classic consists of multiple series of tournaments for both boys and girls throughout the fall. The JV girls' event takes place on September 21, while the Troubie varsity gets its chance to face top NorCal programs on October 5. The frosh version took place at Tokay, Bear Creek, Edison and Franklin.

All three SF volleyball squads return to action in continued SFL play, hosting Granite Bay on Monday. Match times are 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.
