SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis team is the top seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I tennis bracket announced on Tuesday. The Troubadours will play the winner of Monday's first round match between No. 8 McClatchy and No. 9 Oak Ridge on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at Rio Del Oro Sports Club at 2 p.m.
"I feel thankful that we are in this position again," said Head Coach Kristi Spector. "I love that our hard work throughout the season including the tournaments and practice pays off. To get the No. 1 seed is amazing and to have the bye on Monday to work at practice for what we are doing the rest of playoffs is important."
St. Francis enters the postseason having won 18 straight while posting a 12-0 record to win the Delta League title for the fourth consecutive season. They are 18-1 overall with the lone loss to Palo Alto in the season opener at the Golden State Tennis Classic at Stanford.
Spector has the Troubies on course to potentially host throughout the playoffs as the top seed.
"It is super important to host," said Spector. "To have students and fans to come out would be great. We love our home courts and we get a lot of support there. Athletics is really important but academics are too. So the less time we miss away from the classroom the better."
St. Francis is the top seed for the third consecutive season. They last won the section title in 2017 and have won 10 section titles in school history.
The rest of the field includes No. 5 Lincoln-S hosting No. 12 Franklin, No. 13 River City at No. 4 Rocklin, No. 14 Edison at No. 3 Gregori, No. 11 Enochs at No. 6 Davis Sr., No. 10 Pleasant Grove vs. No. 7 Woodcreek and No. 15 Kennedy at No. 2 Granite Bay.
SF has a bye in the first round and could host semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The finals will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14 at a neutral site to be announced.
