SACRAMENTO, Calif.- Sophomore Susanna Graciano of the JV Red soccer team is named GoTroubies.com Athlete of the Week for the week of January 6-10. On Jan. 3, Susanna scored three goals against Lincoln. With the help from Graciano's hat trick, JV Red ended the game resulting in a 8-1 win. Sus plays for American River FC, and has played since she was four years old.
Sus said, "Every year has just been more and more amazing and I fall more in love with the sport every year." Not only did JV Red beat the Lincoln freshman team last Friday, Jan 9 they played Lincoln's Junior Varsity team and defeated them 5-0. The JV Red soccer team continues the season with an overall record of nine wins, and only one loss.

How does it feel to get this award?
"It feels great to be offered this award because it can inspire others as well."
What is your favorite thing about playing soccer for St. Francis?
"My favorite thing about playing soccer for St. Francis is that it is one of the best learning experiences as well and one of the most fun things that I always look forward to."
How do prepare for a game?
"Before a game I like to plan a prayer in my head and just relax. I talk to others and I help hype everyone up and just make sure everyone is relaxed and comfortable because being nervous during a game can affect how you play in so many ways."
What do you think your role on the team is?
"I feel that my role on the team is to help everyone in any way they need. I know that everyone is here to do something different and I strive to help everyone reach their goals."
